THE NOISE ON THE STAIRS.
When I was a child, I was sitting at home one afternoon with my mother and brothers when we heard a noise on the stairs. It was somebody running up and down them, and it was very noisy. My mom thought it was one of the children, but then she realized that all the children were in the room with her. We were very frightened because we thought it was a burglar. We opened the door and looked. The noise continued, but there was nobody there. Then suddenly the noise stopped. I was terrified!
My mom said that it was a poltergeist, which is a ghost that you cannot see. We asked the priest from the local church to come to the house, and after he came we never heard the noise again. But I was scared every time I was alone in the house for the next two years.
Even today, I don’t know what the explanation might be.
